Easter Celebrations

We had a fun Easter this year.  On Saturday we went to my parents house for a Easter egg hunt and dinner.  The kids were excited to see their cousin Jared.  We don't get to see him very often, so they always have a lot of fun with him.  I am so glad that it was a good weather day.  The kids got spoiled with a lot of candy and some money.  As usual, my mom outdid herself with dinner and dessert.  We are always stuffed when we leave and always have leftovers to take home.

When we got home I had to hurry and boil some eggs while the kids bathed, so they would have some to color.  We didn't do it last year and I think they missed it.  We get fresh eggs from the chickens that Porter's dad has.  He has little chickens that lay tiny eggs and some big ones too.  The eggs were brown and the little ones were white.  The brown ones actually colored really well and made the colors really bright.  Easton just sat and watched while he ate some crackers.  I think he was too tired to torture and destroy.

On Easter morning, Easton woke up extra early so Porter had to go in and try to put him back asleep.  Then the girls woke up and I had to make them wait until I had showered because we had to start getting ready for church and for Easton to wake up again. They were very patient and good, because I know they really wanted to see what the Easter Bunny brought them.  The girls got shirts and Easton got a outfit.  They got bubbles, the girls got new Monster High dolls and Easton got a Toy Story sippy and little Buzz and Woody toys.  He loves Toy Story.  They also got fruit snacks and a little bit of candy.  We knew they would be getting a ton of candy from all the egg hunts they were going to have, so they didn't need much for their baskets.

They all got new outfits for church.  I usually love to have my girls match, but now that they are older they like to pick out their own clothes and I couldn't talk them into matching.  They did pick out some really cute dresses.  We took a ton of really cute pictures, I wish I could have posted them all!
After church, the kids found Easter eggs hidden all over the front yard.  Easton loves finding eggs.  He dumped out some jelly beans on the grass and ate them.  It was such a good day.  Still a little cold but at least the sun was shining.  After the hunt we were just hanging out and enjoying the weather.  Easton decided to go visit the goat and chickens like he does all the time.  We weren't really worried because we knew where he was and could see him only about 10 yards away (I am not good with measurements, but I think that's right).  He then disappeared behind a pile of rocks for a few minutes and then we hear screaming.  I run over there, still in my heels from church and I find a rooster attacking him.  I pick up Easton and see blood running down the back of his head and hurry over to our yard.  Porter points out that Easton has stepped in a pile of chicken poop and it is smeared all over his new outfit and all over my skirt too.  So I take him inside to clean him up.  The rooster got him pretty good.  He had a little gouge behind his ear which was the worst and five other little cuts all over his head, he also had some scratches by his eye.  After they were cleaned up they didn't look as bad, but they sure did bleed a lot.  After that he needed a nap.  He still loves the chickens and isn't the least bit afraid of them.

I put the girls headbands on Porter and had to take a picture.  He probably won't be very happy I put this picture on here but he needs to be tortured every once in a while.

While Easton was taking a nap, Porter and the girls went over to his parents house for another Easter egg hunt and dinner.  They got spoiled there also.  Easton and I went over a little later and he looked for eggs and went for a 4 wheeler ride with Grandpa.  The cousins love playing together and had lots of fun.  Later that afternoon we went down to Porter's Grandpa's pond for the annual rolling of the eggs.  Easton had never been down there and the rest of us hadn't been there for a couple of years.  They rolled eggs, had another egg hunt and just had fun playing and sitting by the fire.  It was a really good Easter.

Final Easter crafts

Finally my last Easter craft is done. I'm getting a little burnt out on doing crafts. I still have so many ideas. I want to make my own candle holders, name and established blocks, spring letters. etc. I just don't have the time to do them. I am saving myself a bundle of money though. Not having to buy all my holiday decorations is great. They may not be the greatest looking or the most professional but I like them and they make my home more festive. This wreath that I did is another dollar store craft. I found everything at the dollar store! I just hot glued the Easter grass to the wreath, I used a wicker wreath they had, but I have seen styrofoam wreaths at the dollar store. They didn't have the foam wreath at the one I went to which would have been a lot easier, but I work with what I have. Then I hot glued the little eggs onto the wreath and tied a bow on top. Really, really easy and super cheap. I really wanted to cut out Easter letters but I didn't have the time so I made blocks. Still not sure if I like the letter font I used on this. One day I'll make something else that I really love and then I'll have to give away all my other things that I don't love as much.

I have been toying with the idea of doing a craft blog so I don't have to clutter up my family blog. I just don't know if I would have any success at it. I know I have to link up to other craft blogs to get people to follow and look at my blog, but I don't know how to do it. So once again just another idea I probably won't follow through on.
