Welcome baby boy!

After a long and torturous pregnancy, he's finally here! Easton Porter Galloway was born November 7, 2009 at 5:47 A.M. He weighed 7 lbs 9 oz. and was 20 inches long. He was my biggest baby so far, but not by too much. I think he looks like both of my girls but everyone thinks he looks more like Rylie. I think he is super cute and as close to perfect as you can get. Labor was long and painful, but I only pushed for 15 minutes which was nice. My epidural only worked on one side so I pretty much felt every contraction. It was all worth it though.

This is Easton at one week old. I can't believe it's been a week. He has changed so much. We're pretty sure he is going to have blue eyes. You can't tell in this picture but his hair is brown and will probably end up the same color as the girls. We are so happy he is finally here and we love him so much.

June Update

I am writing this update in September, so I can't really remember what we did in June but I thought I'd post a few things I remember. I know it was a really rainy month so we didn't do a whole lot. Porter's parents have this really nice pond that is just down from our house and they decided to fix it up this year so everyone would have a place to hang out as a family. Grandpa Galloway spent a bunch of time getting it ready for grass, then everyone got together and had a sod party and helped to lay it out. This is a picture of the kids taking a break.Brynlie helped put down a few pieces, but the men did most of the work. It turned out really well and everyone has had a really good time hanging out at the pond. Both Rylie and Brynlie love to fish! I can't believe how fast they caught on and were able to cast like pros in no time. They usually just practice casting. I don't think they caught a fish on their own yet, but when Porter catches one he'll let the girls reel it in and they love it.June was also the month we went camping. Well I can't really say we went camping, more like day camping. It was still in the 30's or 40's at night and I wasn't about to torture myself and my kids just to stay overnight. So we would go up in the morning and go home and sleep at night. I guess that's the nice thing about living up the canyon, we don't have to go very far to go camping. We mostly just hung out , went on a couple of small 4 wheeler rides, and just let the kids play. One night we decided to go on a hike to the head of the river. It's not a very long hike and it was fairly cool weather. Porter had one of his friends up with his daughter and we all went on the hike. The girls did really well and had a lot of fun. Porter decided to take our new camera and try out his photography skills. He took a lot of really cool pictures. The one at the bottom is my favorite. It shows the water coming out of the mountain. The water that comes out is so cold and so good, it amazes me that it is safe to drink.
I really can't remember what else we did but I don't think we did very much since it rained a lot. It was a pretty pathetic first month of summer.

It's a ...

Last Thursday I went in for my ultrasound. The baby was healthy and growing normal. We wanted to find out what the baby was. The girls wanted a boy but Porter and I wanted another girl. Actually we would have been happy either way but we were just used to girls. Anyway, it's a boy! I think we were all shocked because we really were expecting it to be a girl. We had even talked to the girls and had to tell them not to be disappointed if it wasn't a boy because we figured it was going to be a girl. We are excited but are still getting used to the idea. I'm really not sure what to do with a boy. Everything is so girly at our house. I know we'll adjust and then we'll wonder what we would do without a boy.

May Update

It has officially been forever since I have updated my blog. I hate not having a computer. We are saving money for a vacation and so we have to wait to get a new computer. May was a busy month so I just thought I'd share a few of the things we did this month. Since I am writing and posting this at the end of June we'll see how good my memory is. There wasn't a whole lot of good weather this month but the few days that were good we took advantage of it. Here is a few pictures of Grandpa Galloway's pond. The big boys decided to get out the boat and put it in the pond and of course all the kids had to have a boat ride.

Brynlie found a stick and had to pretend that she was fishing. They got new fishing poles for Christmas but hadn't had a chance to try them out yet. The stick was plenty fun for her this day.

Just a few pics of my cute and nutty girls.

We were anxious this month to plant our garden. The strawberries were the first things we planted. Porter made a planter box for the strawberries and the girls helped plant. I thought it was way too cold to be outside so I took a picture and then went in. We did finally get the rest of the garden planted and we planted a whole lot. We tried just about everything, just to see what we could grow and if we would use it. I guess we'll see when everything is ready to be harvested and then we can plan our garden better next year.

During the middle of May I went with some friends of mine to Bear lake for an overnight getaway. These girls have been friends of mine since I was little. We all grew up in the same ward and area and we have stayed in touch all these years. We had a lot of fun talking, eating, playing truth or dare, etc. It was too bad it was for only one night. We all decided that it will have to be longer next year.

Porter stayed home with the girls while I was away. I think they love it when I go because Porter always has fun stuff planned for the girls and they love it. He ended up taking the girls to his softball practice, then out to eat and then he took them bowling. The girls didn't even miss me.

Rylie had her Kindergarten graduation the end of May. It's sad to think my little girl is growing up. I really can't say if Rylie liked Kindergarten or not. I guess it depended on the day. She did really well and always got the highest marks available on the tests. She even over came a lot of her shyness and made quite a few friends. We are very proud of her.
Rylie and some of her friends from school.

There hasn't been a lot to do for the kids outside since we live in a big dirt pile but leave it up to them and they always find something to do and they are always getting filthy doing it. This picture is of my girls making their own slide. They would go up to the top of the hill and slide down on their bums. They didn't care how dirty they got or how many pairs of pants they ruined , just so long as they had fun.

This is a picture of the girls after playing outside. This is pretty much what they look like everyday. I don't even think that they played on the dirt pile this day, they just have to go outside and this is how filthy they get.

Grandma and Grandpa Galloway got a goat and it is a very friendly goat. The kids absolutely loved it for the first few weeks. It would follow them around and they would feed it and play with it. The goat had a baby shortly after this picture was taken but the baby died. Now the goat is staked around to keep weeds down and the girls have grown tired of it.

Here is the girls playing in our muddy backyard after it had rained. They would put on their rain boots and go play in the mud. I can't wait until we have a yard and I don't have to deal with dirt and mud any more. I guess one way to sum up the month of May would be a very dirty month.

New Addition

Some of you may have noticed on the side bar a floating baby. Yes, I am pregnant. I am about 12 weeks along and due November 10. I was actually going to wait to tell anyone until I knew if it was a boy or girl but Porter didn't want to wait so we told family and now I'm telling friends. We're excited and so are the girls. They want a brother pretty bad. I guess it doesn't really matter to me what it is, but a girl would be a lot easier since I have all the girl stuff and I know what to do with girls. I have a feeling this is going to be a long and exhausting pregnancy. I can barely stay awake all day and I'm usually in bed by 9 or 9:30 and I'm still tired when I wake up. The sickness is starting to go away a little bit, but it hasn't been too bad this time.

Easter!

I really like Easter. Probably because I know that summer is coming soon. We had a fun Easter weekend. Saturday we went to my parents house and had an Easter egg hunt and dinner. The girls loved the egg hunt and got a ton of candy. It took Brynlie a minute to figure out what they were doing and then she went like a wild woman. They got to play with their cousin Jared who they love to play with and had a blast. It was nice for me to because I could let them play outside by themselves because I knew Jared was out there and he's old enough now it's like having a babysitter out there with them.
This picture is of the girls at Grandma and Grandpa Galloways for the egg hunt they had on Sunday after church.
Saturday night the girls colored eggs. They love to color eggs. Porters extended family gets together on Easter and they have a tradition of going down to Grandpa Porter's pond and they climb up the hill and roll colored Easter eggs down it. Don't ask me what that's all about because I still don't get it but everyone has a lot of fun. I've never heard of rolling eggs until I married Porter but I guess it's a really old tradition.
This is the girls on Easter morning they got a little bit of candy, cause I knew they would get a load from the grandparents. They also got toys for outside like sidewalk chalk, little gardening tools, and a plastic golf club set. Brynlie got a puzzle book and Rylie got a Tinkerbell coloring book. They were a little disappointed they weren't allowed to open anything until after church but I noticed Brynlie sneaking a few pieces of candy.
This is one reason I love having girls, because I get to dress them up especially for Easter. They got new outfits for church. I have and obsession with matching them. They both got the same outfit just in different colors.
Of course Brynlie can't be serious for a picture. Notice the piece of candy in her hand that she had to have.

Rylie is such a little princess sometimes, she loves to get her picture taken and took a lot of really cute pictures. This is one that shows off her new outfit so I had to post it.

We had a really fun and really busy Easter weekend. I love having so much family around so we can have these fun times together.

Spring Break Fun

A little over a week ago we decided to go with Porter's family and take the girls to that dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point. It was a pretty cool museum. They had a lot of hands on things to do for the kids. They got to use brushes and un-bury dinosaur bones and there was a water and sand table to play with. I thought it was pretty expensive, thirty dollars for just Porter and I to get in. Thankfully Porter's parents paid for the girls or that would have been another twenty five. There was also a 3-d movie to see which was kind of neat. The girls liked it but I don't know if we would ever go again. We are more into doing cheap things with the girls, but we're willing to try anything once
The silly girls un-burying dinosaur bones.

This was a huge dinosaur and all I could get in the picture was the foot so I had the girls pose by it.

Brynlie by a Triceratops, you can't really see it in the picture.

Seth, Rylie, Brynlie, and Parker posing for pictures.

Here's just a couple of pics of the girls swimming at the hotel. I think that they had more fun swimming than anything else we did that weekend.

We also went to the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy. When we first pulled up to the aquarium I was a little worried. It looked like and I pretty sure it's true that they converted an old grocery store into the aquarium. I wasn't quite sure what to think about it. I only hoped it would be worth it.

It was really small but I was pleasantly surprised. They did have a lot of cool fish to see and they let you pet sting rays. My kids just wanted to touch the fish that were in the sting ray tank and not the sting rays. They even had little sharks to look at. It wasn't too expensive which was a bonus and the girls got to use their own money to buy themselves souvenirs. I think the girls really enjoyed it.
Besides taking the girls to the movie Monsters vs. Aliens the museum and aquarium are about the only things we did with the girls for spring break. I got really sick and could barely get out of bed for a few days so the girls didn't have that fun of a break but at least we got to do a few things.

Bunk Beds

Our girls have been wanting bunk beds for a while but being the paranoid mom that I am I kept procrastinating getting them. They went from cribs to toddler beds to twin mattresses on the floor. I was always worried about them falling out of bed and getting hurt. ( I won't even let Rylie ride the bus from school because they don't have seat belts.) I guess I worry too much. Anyway, I got their bedding for the bunk beds a while ago and even painted their room coordinating with the bedding but I never put the quilts on because I didn't want them ruined with the beds on the floor. So we decided to finally get the bunk beds yesterday. I never realized how hard it is to make up bunk beds. The girls were so excited to go to bed. They were the ones who wanted me to take their pictures. They loved their new bedding and had to pose with their pillows. I have tons of cute ideas to decorate their room but if I actually get to it, it will be a miracle. They both had a hard time getting to sleep because they are used to sleeping right next to each other. I had to lay by them for a while until they went to sleep, then Brynlie woke up at about three in the morning and wouldn't go back to sleep until about five. I just hope they get used to the beds soon because I don't know how many sleepless nights I can take.
